29. Over Analyzing

Date: Monday, January 17, 2011
Time: 10:58 p.m.
Reason: I am in a class right now called "analytical reporting" and we are working on our final assignment. We need 10 sources and it has to be 1200 words (fairly long for journalism.)  It is due on the 19th, and I currently have 2 sources. So I did the only thing I could think of and called my boyfriend crying. Unfortunately, he does not count as a source.

28. Radio Editing

Date: Saturday, January 15, 2011
Time: 3:22 p.m.
Reason: I went to school to edit an interview I had recorded for my radio broadcast class. When I plugged in my headphones to listen to the raw footage, it sounded terrible. The voices were barely audible. My boyfriend tried to help me but it wasn't working. I wasn't so much frustrated as embarassed because I knew the instructors would probably point out a rookie mistake I had made. So there I was crying at a computer.
(In case you were wondering, it turned out fine thanks to some more help from my boyfriend, and a friend who told me I had my headphones plugged into the regular jack, instead of the special one for editing.)

27. Raising Hope

Date: Friday, January 14, 2011
Time: 12:52 p.m.
Reason: I just started watching the show Raising Hope on Global. It follows a teenage boy raising a baby and it's pretty hilarious if you ask me. They manage to sneak in some good lessons though. I just watched episode three and at the end the main character tells his baby:

"That’s when I realized I want you to grow up in a house where people dream. Growing up with your grandparents in this house left me with a lot of scars but it also left me with the confidence that no dream is too big. We didn’t have the best life, but that didn’t stop us from hoping that one day we would. And when you’re growing up around a couple of dreamers, you can’t help but turn into one yourself. I may not be able to give you the perfect life, but I want you to live in a house that makes you believe one day you can get it. That’s why I’m gonna make sure you never see your Daddy stop dreaming. Cause if you’re not dreaming, you're just sleeping."

It was just so pure and genuine. It was the last thirty seconds of the show and I tried so hard not to cry but I just couldn't help myself. That one really caught me off guard!

26. The Buried Life

Date: Thursday, January 13, 2011
Time: 10:52 p.m.
Reason: I was watching The Buried Life with my boyfriend. If you haven't seen it, check it out here! It's this show where four guys make a list of things they want to do before they die and each episode they try to cross one thing off. Last night it was to make a million dollars. Anyway, also in each episode they try to help a stranger cross off a list item as well. Yesterday, it was this young boy named Lucas whose Dad did not have a home. So they set up an apartment for him and prepaid six months rent. Then, Lucas went and found his Dad in a diner and told him the news. It was so cute! They were both overjoyed and I couldn't contain myself.

25. Encouraging Email

Date: Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Time: 10:50 p.m.
Reason: My Dad sent me a really nice email about losing my job and how I can make the best of it. Thanks for the encouragement Daddy!

24. You're Fired

Date: Tuesday, January 4, 2011
Time: 12:31 p.m.
Reason: I've been trying to get in touch with my work for the past few days to double check my schedule. They shut down for 10 days over Christmas so I wanted to make sure nothing had changed. I finally got through to my manager today and this is the response I got:

"You were supposed to work today. I hate to do this over the phone but we're going to have to let you go. It's just not working."

Wow. This has never happened to me before.

Holiday Recap

Christmas was a super busy time as usual and I neglected to keep this blog up to date over the past few weeks.  However, I can tell you that I cried at least 3 times because I missed I my boyfriend.
